Institute of Vocational

The Institute of Vocational Education was established on the basis of the decision of the Academic Council, is a structural subdivision of the Samara State Medical University. The abbreviated name is IPO SamGMU.

 

IPO SamGMU is headed by the director of the IPO. The general management and control of the activities of the IPO is carried out by the rector of the Samara State Medical University, as well as an elected representative body headed by the director of the IPO – the Academic Council of the Institute (with a term of office of 5 years).

The composition of the institute

The IPO includes 16 departments and 2 educational courses at the departments of endocrinology and internal medicine. In addition, the IPO coordinates the work at 46 departments of various faculties (medical, pediatric, medical and preventive, etc.) on the implementation of educational residency programs, as well as additional professional education programs (professional retraining and advanced training). 62 Doctors of Science and 104 Candidates of Science participate in the educational activities of the IPO. Among the teachers of the IPO are 3 laureates of the RF Government Prize, 11 Honored Doctors of Russia.

 

More than 8.5 thousand people study at IPO annually, including 7.5 thousand students of professional retraining and advanced training cycles, more than 300 residents (first and second years of study).

 

IPO Samara State Medical University is guided in its work by the legislation of the Russian Federation and the Samara region, the regulations on IPO, the charter of Samara State Medical University, regulatory legal documentation in the field of higher and additional professional education, decisions of the academic councils of Samara State Medical University and IPO Samara State Medical University, orders of the rector of Samara State Medical University and orders of the director of IPO Samara State Medical University, relevant agreements. IPO SamSMU carries out its activities in accordance with the model regulations on educational institutions of higher and additional professional education.

 

In the IPO SamSMU, higher professional education (residency) and additional professional education (professional retraining and advanced training) are carried out.

The main tasks of the IPO SamaraSMU

      meeting the needs of doctors of various specialties (as well as pharmacists, paramedical workers and pharmacists) in obtaining knowledge                about the latest achievements in the fields of science, best domestic and foreign experience;


      organization and conduct of advanced training;


      organizing and conducting professional retraining of specialists;


      organization of residency training;


      conducting intermediate and final certification of residents;


      organization and conduct of medical and advisory activities;


      conducting research work and introducing its results into healthcare practice;


      development of draft curricula and programs, methodological materials, lectures and manuals;


      conducting the educational process on the basis of modern pedagogical science and the introduction of active methods and technical means of        training, knowledge control;


      implementation of a comprehensive program of work to strengthen the prevention of diseases, the preservation and promotion of public health;
      examination of programs, projects, recommendations, scientific developments.
